Fried Steak Jambalaya style

Fried steak is back….packed with flavours of Jambalaya creole, a clear winner!

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 500g steak or 4 pieces (good cuts for this are rib-eye steak, tenderloin, porterhouse, T-bone, skirt steak, top sirloin)
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 2tbs corn flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp Kumari Spice World Jambalaya Seasoning
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil for frying (or your preferred choice of oil)
  • 2 cups of cooked mash potato

Directions

  • Tenderize your steak pieces with a mallet
  • Mix flour, baking powder and Jambalaya seasoning together in a bowl
  • Dip each steak into the flour mix and then dip it into the buttermilk mix and coat in the flour mix a second time
  • Fry your coated steaks in a frypan or skillet with 2-3cm hot oil until lightly golden brown, should only take 2 mins per side
  • Set down on a rack to drain off any excess oil
  • Set your mash potato evenly on each plate and set fried steak on top
  • Pour Cobra Chilli  Jambalaya sauce over the steaks (go generous)
  • Add any other in season veggies on the side or place carefully on steaks
